Secretary Williams: Another DA candidate, two more House hopefuls make ballot
DENVER, April 20, 2016 -- Secretary of State Wayne Williams announced today that the Adams County district attorney and two state House candidates have successfully petitioned onto the primary ballot.
District Attorney Dave Young, and legislative candidates Tom Lucero and Colleen Whitlow face contested primaries on June 28.
Young submitted signature petitions after failing to make the ballot at his 17th Judicial District assembly, receiving 25 percent of the delegate vote. He faces Boulder County Deputy District Attorney Caryn Datz in the Democratic contest after she received 75 percent of the delegate vote.
Candidates who received less than 30 percent of the delegate vote but more than 10 percent at their assemblies could try to petition onto the ballot as long as signatures were submitted by April 4.
Here is the signature breakdown for Young:

- Turned in: 1,717
- Rejected: 192
- Accepted: 1,525
Lucero also petitioned onto the ballot after receiving 29 percent of the delegate vote at the House District 51 assembly, where Loveland City Councilor Hugh McKean received 71 percent of the delegate vote. He and McKean are on the Republican primary ballot.

Whitlow, of Mead, is challenging the incumbent, Rep. Lori Saine of Firestone, in the Republican primary in House District 63.
