One House, One District Attorney, Two RTD Candidates Qualify for General Election Ballot

Denver, July 26, 2024 - The Elections Division of the Colorado Secretary of State’s Office announced today that four candidates have qualified for the General Election Ballot:

  • Daniel Campaña, unaffiliated candidate for Colorado House District 22
  • Matthew Karzen, unaffiliated candidate for District Attorney for the 14th Judicial District
  • Bob Dinegar, nonpartisan candidate for RTD Board of Directors, District A
  • Bernard F. Celestin, nonpartisan candidate for RTD Board of Directors, District F

Each has submitted the required number of signatures to appear on the November 5, 2024 General Election ballot.

Candidates for the Colorado House of Representatives are required to collect 1,000 signatures (or 5% of votes cast in the last election, whichever is smaller) in their district, a requirement outlined by 1-4-802(1)(c)(V), C.R.S. Daniel Campaña submitted 1,056 valid signatures, eclipsing the 1,000-signature threshold.

Candidates for District Attorney are required to collect 1,000 signatures (or 3% of votes cast in the last election, whichever is smaller) in their district, a requirement outlined by 1-4-802(1)(c)(VI), C.R.S. Matthew Karzen submitted 681 valid signatures, eclipsing the 656-signature threshold.

Candidates for RTD Board of Directors are required to collect 250 signatures within their district as required by 32-9-111(5)(a) C.R.S. Bob Dinegar submitted 252 valid signatures. Bernard F. Celestin submitted 258 valid signatures. Each eclipsed the 250-signature threshold.
