Broom, Mihalik, and Sloan Qualify for General Election Ballot for RTD Board of Directors; Johnson Does Not
Denver, August 11, 2020 – The Elections Division of the Colorado Secretary of State’s office today announced that Bob Broom, a nonpartisan candidate for Regional Transportation District Board of Directors, District F, Ken Mihalik, a nonpartisan candidate for Regional Transportation District Board of Directors, District G, and Marjorie Sloan, a nonpartisan candidate for Regional Transportation District Board of Directors, District M, have collected the required number of signatures to appear on the November 3 general election ballot.
Candidates for RTD Board of Directors are required to collect 250 signatures in their district, a requirement outlined by 32-9-111, C.R.S. Broom submitted 299 valid signatures, Mihalik submitted 268 valid signatures, and Sloan submitted 259 valid signatures, clearing the threshold to appear on the ballot.
Alex Johnson, an unaffiliated candidate for U.S. House of Representatives, District 2, did not collect the requisite number of signatures to receive nomination by petition and will not appear on the general election ballot. Candidates wishing to seek nomination by petition are required to collect 1,500 valid signatures from their district, as outlined by 1-4-802(1)(c)(III), C.R.S.
