Colorado Secretary of State's Office and Colorado Minority Business Office Team Up to Support Minority and Women-Owned Businesses
Denver, February 26, 2020 – The Colorado Secretary of State's Office and Colorado's Minority Business Office, a division of the state's Office of Economic Development and International Trade, have joined forces to support the state's minority-owned businesses by making them aware of state services available to them. Once registered with the Secretary of State's Office, businesses are encouraged to participate in an optional survey, which will enable the Minority Business Office to reach out with available services and answer questions.
"Minority and women-owned businesses are such an important facet of Colorado's economy. Many business owners aren't aware of the resources the State of Colorado has available to help them succeed," said Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold. "That's why we're pleased to team up with the Minority Business Office to provide resources to more Colorado businesses."
"The resources provided by the Secretary of State's Office are a significant addition to Colorado's ability to identify opportunities available to minority-owned businesses across the State," said Rosy Aburto McDonough, Director of the Colorado Minority Business Office. "By participating in the optional survey, businesses will enable us to introduce additional resources and technical assistance to help more minority and women-owned businesses to succeed."
The Minority Business Office will use the Secretary of State's Business Information Survey results to reach out to those businesses that may benefit from additional services and support.
In addition to this new partnership, the Secretary of State's website also offers a free eLearning module that guides filers through the needed steps. These eLearning tools are available to anyone, even if they haven't registered with the Secretary of State's Office.
Ultimately, by identifying more minority, veteran, and women-owned businesses, the survey will provide a mechanism to connect customers to the Minority Business Office and allow outreach to assist Colorado minority and women-owned businesses.
