Secretary Williams: Colorado will offer two methods for viewing election results Tuesday night
DENVER, Nov. 1, 2018 -- Colorado Secretary of State Wayne Williams announced today that the office will be posting results in two ways on election night.
One way is the standard "ENR" or Election Night Reporting that provides visitors a breakdown of unofficial vote totals by contest. The other method will provide unaggregated county-level results. The links will be side-by-side on the Secretary of State's home page on Tuesday, Nov. 6, Election Day.
ENR includes maps that illustrate three items: the counties reporting, voter turnout and results by county. With the exception of three counties, clerks in Colorado's 64 counties must report election results to the ENR system a minimum of three times Election Night. The first results need to be uploaded no later than 8 p.m. The second results must be posted at or around 9 p.m. The clerks must also do a final upload for the night and note whether reporting is complete.
Jackson, Mineral and San Juan counties either hand count their ballots or do not have the capability to upload a results file so they only have to report when they are finished.
The unaggregated county-level results page will provide a link for each county, and when the link is clicked a PDF summary report will pop up. These reports will only list results for the county, so for statewide and multi-jurisdictional contests the combined results of the contest will not be displayed.
The Secretary of State's office will update the report page every 15 minutes starting at 7 p.m. when the polls close, and ending at midnight. However, the unaggregated county-level results will only be updated as they change -- look for the time stamp in the upper right hand corner.
