Go Code Colorado finalist for NASS IDEAS Award
DENVER, February 23, 2015 - Go Code Colorado, the nation’s first state-sponsored business challenge, was selected as one of four finalists for the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) IDEAS Award.
“We’ve already seen great successes from this initiative over the past year and I’m excited to share our innovation with the rest of the states,” said Secretary of State Wayne Williams. “We’re leveraging our flourishing tech and startup communities to help unleash the potential of our publicly available data to improve Colorado’s business climate.”
Go Code Colorado is an initiative of the Colorado Secretary of State’s Business Intelligence Center, which works to make state-managed, public data more accessible on the Colorado Information Marketplace portal (data.colorado.gov). Through a number of competitive events that challenge entrepreneurs and developers to build data-savvy apps that help businesses make better decisions, Go Code Colorado is a leader in the open data movement.
“NASS members are thrilled that we are once again able to showcase the diverse array of secretary of state office functions through this association award,” noted NASS President Elaine Marshall, who also co-chairs the NASS Awards Committee. “We are looking forward to our summer conference in Maine, where the finalist offices can showcase their innovative approaches to governing.”
Established in 2011, the NASS IDEAS (Innovation, Dedication, Excellence, and Achievement in Service) Award recognizes the outstanding programs and achievements of NASS member offices. The Colorado Secretary of State’s office previously won the 2014 NASS IDEAS award for its innovative eLearning program.
Go Code Colorado already received two previous recognitions. This past November, The Colorado Technology Association gave Go Code Colorado its Technology Project of the Year Award. Earlier this week, Go Code Colorado was recognized as a Bright Idea by Harvard’s Kennedy School through its Innovations in American Government Awards competition.
Go Code Colorado has several upcoming events for this year. All events are open to the media.
