Gessler launches new UCC filing system
New system will save businesses time and money
Denver, May 29, 2012 - Colorado Secretary of State Scott Gessler today announced Colorado's launch of the nation’s most sophisticated commercial lien filing system. UCC filings are public records of security interests and liens on personal property. Banks and other creditors can file UCC records to provide notice and establish priority of their claims on a debtor’s or borrower’s collateral.
"Colorado business leaders deserve a modern filing system that saves time and money," Gessler said. "When I entered office, our goal was to have the best system in the country and keep our fees among the lowest - I’m happy to say we delivered."
The previous online system was not sophisticated enough to handle all types of lien filings. Paper submissions required more time and resources, for both customers and Secretary of State staff. The new online system will accommodate all types of lien filings. With the launch of the new system, all UCC forms will be filed online.
In addition to web filing, all UCC searches are conducted online through the new system. UCC search reports, copies of documents, and certified records will all be available for free through the website.
