Buescher kicks off Nike Reuse-A-Shoe campaign
Old tennis shoes will be recycled to playground surfaces
Denver, April 21, 2010 – Starting tomorrow, Secretary of State Bernie Buescher and his office’s Employee Relations Committee will join Nike’s Reuse-A-Shoe campaign. The effort aims to collect old and worn out tennis shoes that will be recycled into playground and other sports surfaces.
“What better time than Earth Day to do a little spring cleaning and dump those old tennis shoes,” Buescher said. “As these shoes finish their lives, their soles will live on for years to come.”
Buescher has bins set up throughout his office and he’s asking his employees and any interested customers to recycle their old tennis shoes. The shoe drive starts today and will continue through the end of the legislative session or May 12.
