No Statewide Recount Will be Ordered for the CU Regent at Large Race
Denver Colo, November 29, 2006 – Today Secretary of State Gigi Dennis has compiled the election results from the County Clerk and Recorders for the CU Regent at Large race and determined that no recount is required.
Pursuant to C.R.S. 1-10.5-101, a recount would be mandatory if the difference between the highest number of votes cast and the next highest number of votes cast is less than or equal to one-half of one percent of the highest vote cast in that election. The difference between the two candidates in the CU Regent at Large race was 0.91 percent, with Ludwig winning the race.
All other results will be posted on the Secretary of State’s website at www.elections.colorado.gov by close of business on December 1. The last day for a losing candidate to request a recount at their own expense is also Friday, December 1.
The last time the State of Colorado had a statewide recount was in 2000 for the State Board of Education at Large.
