Colorado Secretary of State Takeover of all Trade Names to Take Place Next Week
Denver CO, May 25, 2006 – Colorado Secretary of State Gigi Dennis today reminded Colorado business owners that beginning Tuesday, May 30 all trade names will be filed in the Colorado Secretary of State’s office.
“This is a tremendous improvement to the efficiency of Colorado’s government and will consolidate all trade names in one location,” Secretary of State Gigi Dennis said. “We have also implemented new electronic filing for trade name registrations and will reduce fees to $1.00 per registration at the Colorado Secretary of State’s office.”
In 2004, Governor Owens signed House Bill 1448 which requires all effective trade names from the Department of Revenue to be transferred to the Secretary of State’s office. Starting May 30, all trade names must be filed online with the Secretary of State’s office.
For more information about trade name registration, please visit the Secretary of State’s website at www.sos.state.co.us and click on the “Business Center”.
The Colorado Secretary of State’s office will be closed Monday, May 29 in observance of the Memorial holiday. Due to the implementation of the online trade name application many of the online filing and searching features on the “Business Center” website will be unavailable over the holiday weekend. All online services will be available on Tuesday, May 30.
