Gigi Dennis Confirmed by Senate as Colorado's 34th Secretary of State
Denver, May 12, 2006 - Today Gigi Dennis was confirmed by the Colorado State Senate to serve as Colorado's 34th Secretary of State following a unanimous vote.
On Wednesday, May 3, Secretary Dennis received a unanimous vote of the Senate State Affairs Committee.
In reaction to the vote, Dennis issued the following statement:
"It is a great honor to have the confidence and support of the Governor of Colorado and the members of Colorado's General Assembly," Secretary of State Gigi Dennis said. "I am committed to helping Colorado meet the election mandates set forth in federal and state law and ensuring the integrity of the voting process."
Secretary Dennis was initially sworn in to serve her term on September 26, 2005 after being appointed by Governor Bill Owens to fill the vacancy left by Donetta Davidson.
Dennis' term will expire on January 8, 2007.
