November 1, 2005 Election Night Procedures With Additional Information and Dates to Remember
Denver, October 12, 2005 - On Election night, you may obtain unofficial election results from each County Clerk and Recorder. The Secretary of State Public Information Officer will be available at the above-mentioned phone number throughout the day and evening to answer inquiries from members of the media.
The Secretary of State projects a voter turnout of 45.0%. In previous odd-year elections, the voter turnout ranged from 30.0% in 1997 to 47.25% in 2003. Secretary of State Gigi Dennis hopes voters break previous odd-year turnout records during the upcoming election.
"I urge citizens to exercise their right to vote by voting in the November 1 odd-year election," Secretary of State Gigi Dennis said. "The issues facing Coloradoans in the upcoming election will have a lasting impact for many years. I encourage citizens to make their voice heard," Dennis added.
Here is how the registration numbers break out by party affiliation as of September 23, 2005:
- Republican - 1,040,156
- Democrat - 867,184
- Unaffiliated - 943,412
- Libertarian - 5,703
- Green - 4,706
- Other - 1,000
- Total: 2,862,161

Important Dates to Remember:
- November 1 - 2005 Election Day
- November 18 - Last day for County Clerks to submit election results to the Secretary of State.
- November 25 - Last day for the Secretary of State to total returns and order recounts.
- November 25 - Secretary of State will have official election results available on the "Elections Center" website.
- December 1 - Last day to complete a recount.
