President Appoints Secretary of State Donetta Davidson to Board of Directors of the Help America Vote Foundation
Denver, July 14, 2004 - On July 9, 2004, President Bush announced his intent to appoint Secretary of State Donetta Davidson to the Board of Directors of the Help America Vote Foundation for a four-year term. The Board of Directors of the Help America Vote Foundation will include Donetta Davidson of Colorado, Elizabeth G. Flores of Texas, J. Hayden Fry of Nevada, and Keith J. Jackson of Arkansas.
The Help America Vote Foundation is a federally chartered nonprofit corporation established by the federal "Help America Vote Act of 2002". Its purpose is to mobilize secondary school students to assist and participate in election processes as nonpartisan poll workers.
President Bush and Secretary Davidson will officially sign the commission within the next month.
"This is a tremendous opportunity for me to promote voter participation among high school and college students," Donetta Davidson said. "Their input and voice in the American electoral system is vital so that the a whole new generation can build communities that they are proud to live in. I want to help young adults become familiar with the election process and teach them that their voice and votes do count and matter."
