Secretary of State Names Hobbs as Deputy
Denver, August 4, 1999 - In less than two weeks of her appointment, Secretary of State Donetta Davidson has named William Hobbs of Denver as Deputy Secretary of State. Hobbs assumes the position immediately.
Hobbs is not new to the Secretary of State's office. He was chief elections officer for Natalie Meyer and the late Vikki Buckley from December 1994 to August 1995.
"Bill will be an integral part of this office as Deputy Secretary of State," Davidson said. "With his extensive experience with the office's processes as well as the Legislature, he was the obvious choice for the deputy position. He could take over anytime during my absence."
Hobbs will represent Davidson as chairman of the Title Board. He will also be involved with the budgeting, personnel, legal issues and numerous other special projects in the office.
The new deputy has served for the past two years as a senior legislative analyst for the Colorado General Assembly's Joint Budget Committee. His longest stint with state government was 1978 to 1994 service in the Legislature's office of legislative legal services. He is also a former legal editor for a legal publishing company and a lawyer in private practice.
A member of the Colorado Bar Association, Hobbs received his law degree from the University of Colorado. He is a graduate of Emory University, Atlanta, where he obtained a bachelor of science degree.
