Policy for Filing Accessible Documents with the Colorado Secretary of State’s Office

In accordance with section 24-34-802(1), C.R.S., all public entities and state agencies must comply with the accessibility standards established by the Governor’s Office of Information Technology (OIT). Therefore, all documents filed electronically with the Secretary of State’s Office after July 1, 2024, must be provided in an accessible format compliant with 8 CCR 1501-11, Rule 11.5 (Technical Standards for Technology Accessibility).

All individuals and entities are encouraged to submit their filings ahead of their relevant filing deadlines, as the Secretary of State’s Office will, where possible, evaluate whether filings are compliant with 8 CCR 1501-11, Rule 11.5, and require inaccessible documents to be resubmitted in an accessible format.

*Public entities and state agencies updating documents to comply with the OIT’s accessibility standards that are in active use [1] and maintained by the Secretary of State’s office must resubmit corrected versions to the Secretary of State’s Office prior to July 1, 2025.
