Major William J. Fanning, USAF November 8, 2024
My Dad graduated from the US Air Force Academy in 1963, was a C-130 pilot, served multiple tours in Viet Nam and Europe, and ultimately served 20 years in the Air Force. After retirement he continued to serve our country as a contractor working at NORAD. He saw so many things during his life of service that inspired him to love and serve this great country and to be thankful for all that we have in our Constitution, including the right to bear arms and to vote. When I was living overseas, in Belize during the ’80’s, he made sure I got my absentee ballot mailed to me so I could vote and mail it back in time for presidential elections. It’s a whole lot easier to get an absentee ballot and vote now than it was back then! He considered it not only a privilege but a solumn duty to vote in our nations elections, no matter where in the world you happened to be at election time. So I vote at every election now, in his honor, and with appreciation for the patriotic values that he embodied and that he labored to pass on to me.

Captain John Campbell October 21, 2024
Captain John Campbell (my uncle) served at Pearl Harbor back in the day and survived the day of the attack. At the age of almost 102 a few years back, he passed away. At 100 years old, he was the oldest San Diego-based survivor of the Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor. He served 30 years in both the Navy and Marine Corps and flew helicopters and planes. He was not a college graduate but was really smart and grew to be a billionaire in his lifetime. He ultimately retired as President of the ABC network as a civilian. He was so giving to the grandkids, nieces and nephews in that he gave a small stipend toward their college funds. This grew and the kids were able, in most cases, to attend college on the money he lent when they were babies. Although he had a little prickly personality, Uncle John loved his family and was so generous. I applaud his life both as a service member and as my uncle. https://www.marines.mil/News/News-Display/Article/2035375/pearl-harbor-through-the-eyes-of-john-campbell/

CWO-3 Walter L. Fisher October 12, 2024
My father, now 92, served 20 years in the Army. He retired at age 36 in 1969. Although he was awarded "clusters" of the Distinguished Flying Cross (17), the Silver Star, the Bronze Star and many others during the Vietnam War, he never had them pinned to his chest and received the awards for the daring work he performed rescuing many soldiers from behind enemy lines, even if his own aircraft was barely able to maintain flight from due to enemy damage. The medals arrived on our door step, packaged individually, via regular mail, and just strewn all over the fron door stoop, about a year after his retirement. I'll never forget the disappointment on his face when he arrived home to a tabletop full of these boxes. For decades he didn't bother to open them. I hereby honor my father, my HERO.

My stepfather Tyrone Reeder served in the US Army and was a Vietnam War veteran. I wish to honor his service and sacrifice. He died of brain cancer, which we believe was caused by the clouds of agent orange he flew through as a medivac helicopter pilot.

My grandfather was a proud naturalized citizen who fought in the Army in WWI. Because he spoke 5 languages, he re-inlisted in the Army of Occupation and returned to Germany to help the citizens regain their lives. Until his retirement, he worked for the Veterans Administration in Cleveland, Ohio As a hobby, he raised cattle and grew fruits and vegetables. He was a quiet man with a quick and infectious smile, kind to everyone and never stopped reading. He was respected and loved by his family and is missed to this day.

William E. Sherratt Jr. May 7, 2024
I am voting in honor of my father, William E. Sherratt Jr. My father was the epitome of what a man, father, husband, and an American should be. My father never missed an opportunity to vote for what he thought was right. He fought for his country during Vietnam and even though when he returned home he were savagly disrespected, to put it mildly, he would have done it all over again. He worked two jobs for the majority of his adult life, so that he could provide for his family and he never had a problem with helping his neighbor, if they needed it. He never complained once about his time overseas, he never uttered an unhappy sigh for all of the hours he put in each week. With all of that on his plate, he still found time to teach me everything I know about how to be a man, father, husband, and an American. I am so proud of my father, I love him and I miss him every day. I can only hope that I make him proud to be my dad.

I'm voting in honor of my father, Matthew Alouis Weger. My father is one of many family members who served in the United States Navy. He proudly served on the USS Maury as ENGINEMEN 3/C US NAVY, and was honorably discharged March 13, 1950. He joined other Veterans on the Wisconsin Badger Honor Flight, and he spoke, very highly, with tears in his eyes, of how he and the other Veterans were honored. Thanks to my father, I'm very Patriotic, I love the USA, the American Flag, and I love our Veterans! I've been President of the American Legion Auxiliary, and the American Legion Rider's Treasurer, going on three years now. Wm C Clothier February 17, 2024
Wm C Clothier was my father. He served in the Army during WWII. He eventually was sent overseas to England on the Queen Mary and from there to Omaha Beach. He got there on D-Day + 3. His job was to drive a radio communications truck. On the side of the truck he had painted "Freda" the name of the love of his life. The next year and a half was spent various places in Europe. After getting back to the states and getting out of the Army he married Freda, my mother, a month later. Until the day he died he could recount places he had been, when he was there and what he was doing and enjoyed telling people about it.

Arthur N. Lipphardt February 12, 2024
My father who was not born an American, he was born in China under Communist terror in 1935 to parents who escaped the Communist Terror happening in Russia. His Parents were Polish/German/Russian.Tradgically while in China, his mother was killed in approx. 1941 by a Japanese Air Raid, one of many bombings that were going on as China fought with Japan. He & his father approx. 1945, it was announced any by the ruling CCP "All round eyes" would be executed if they didn't leave China, a humanitarian effort was organized for the Flying Tigers flights to take all being expelled to a refugee camp on an island in the Philippines. My father never had a birth certificate nor passport so it was hard to get out of the refugee camp. So He & his father lived in the camps until they could get passage to S.America, where my Dad lived until 17 [still never speaking English yet. My father & his Dad went through great LEGAL lengths to become an Americans. When he did get to come to America, he took night school classes to learn english and assimilate. At age 20 he was able to join the Army. Speaking 6 languages, his Army enlisted career took him to Europe. While stationed in France, he met my Mother they married in 1959 [raising 6 kids together & are still married today], it wasn't until 1963 after much diligence and desire, he, my Mother, their 3 children were able to become US Citizens. I was born in 1963 on an Army Base in Germany where my father was stationed...the first in my family to be born an American! My parents had 2 more kids after me-one more in Germany and the last of the 6 Lipphardt kids was born back in the states [KS] while my father was deployed to Vietnam. What an epic story my father & mother have lived. I would like a Button to show him [they are still alive but declining quickly, under the full time care home watchful eye]
