General Election: Tuesday, November 5, 2024
Special District Election questions should be directed to the Designated Election Official or the Department of Local Affairs DOLA. Campaign finance questions are addressed by the Colorado Secretary of State’s campaign finance support staff.
This calendar applies to (refer to Campaign Finance Rules 16 & 17):
- Candidates and candidate committees whose office does not appear on a 2024 ballot
- Issue committees whose issue does not attempt access to or appear on a 2024 ballot
- All other non-terminated special district committees (political and small donor committees, 527 political organizations, independent expendi-ture committees, etc.) whose candidates or issues do not attempt access to or appear on a 2024 ballot.
This calendar does not account for disclosure reports associated with recall elections.
The following types of supplemental reports may be required dependent on activity:
- Electioneering Communication (EC) reports starting 30 days (May 26, 2024) before the Primary Election and continues until the day before the General Election. EC is a communication that mentions one or more candidates. This is part of your regular report.
- 24 Hour Notice of Major Contributor & 48 Hour Notice of Independent Expenditure reports starting 30 days before both the Primary and General Elections. These are separate from your regular report.
Please note:
- Special district candidates and committees involved with a special district election held in conjunction with the November 5, 2024, General Election file disclosure reports on the 21st day before the election, the Friday before the election, and 35 days after the election (1-45-108(2)(a)(II), C.R.S.). If this schedule applies to you, you must contact campaign finance support to update your disclosure schedule.
- Special district candidates and candidate committees are not required to file disclosure reports until they have raised or spent more than $200 in the aggregate during the election cycle.
Small-Scale Issue Committees (SSIC) are not required to file disclosure reports until they exceed $5,000 in activity. After filing an initial disclosure report and converting to an Issue Committee, they are subject to the disclosure requirements of 1-45-108(2), C.R.S.
