EFS Master list
Q1. What is the master list?
A1. The master list is a report that contains information from all of the effective financing statements (EFS) that were effective as of the last day of the previous month. Buyers of farm products use the master list to check if a farm product is subject to a security interest.
The master list includes:
- Record and document numbers,
- Debtor information,
- Secured party information,
- The farm products affected by the EFS,
- The county or counties where the affected farm products are located,
- The crop year(s) affected by the statement, and
- Assignee information, if applicable.
Q2. How often is the master list updated?
A2. The master list is updated monthly, and includes all records that were effective as of the last day of the previous month. For example, during the month of May the master list is current through the last day of April.
Q3. Do I have to pay to search the master list?
A3. No. Searching and downloading the master list is free.
Q4. How do I search the master list?
A4. To search the master list:
- Go to the UCC filing system.
- Click on "EFS master list."
- Choose or enter the information that you want to search for. You can enter any combination of the search criteria on this page.
You can search by:
- Farm product,
- Debtor's name,
- Debtor's unique identifier,
- County, and
- Crop years.
- When you have entered your search criteria, click on "Search."
- The Master List Search Results page will display all of the records that match your search.
- Click on "Download a tab-delimited text file of the results" to download a copy of your search results. Tab-delimited text files can be imported into MS Excel or other spreadsheet programs.
The master list does not include filings that have lapsed or been terminated as of the last day of the previous month.
Q5. How do I download the master list?
A5. To download a copy of the current master list:
- Go to the UCC filing system.
- Click on "EFS master list."
- Click on " Download the complete master list."
- Choose which version of the master list that you want to download. The options are:
- A PDF version of the master list sorted by debtor name.
- Tab-delimited text (.txt) files. These files can be imported into MS Excel or other spreadsheet programs. There are four text files, sorted by:
- Debtor name,
- Debtor ID number,
- County, and
- Crop year.
- If you choose the PDF version, it will open in a new window. You may choose to save or print the document.
- If you choose a tab-delimited text file, right-click on the link and select "Save target as...", "Save link as..." or similar (depending on your browser) to save the file to your computer.
The master list does not include filings that have lapsed or been terminated as of the last day of the previous month.
Q6. Do I need a user account to search the master list?
A6. No. You can search the master list without a user account.
Q7. Will you notify me when the master list is updated?
A7. You can register to receive emails when the master list is updated each month. You must have a user account to register for updates.
To register:
- Create or log in to a user account.
- Click on "My account home" in the menu on the left-hand side of the page.
- Click on "Manage EFS master list registration."
- Click on "Register for the Master List."
You will receive an email when the master list is updated. The master list is usually updated on the first day of each month.
Q8. How do I stop receiving emails regarding the EFS master list?
A8. To cancel your master list registration:
- Log in to your user account.
- Click on "My account home" in the menu on the left-hand side of the page.
- Click on "Manage EFS master list registration."
- Click on "Cancel Master List Registration."
