Description of Subjects/Issues Pursuant to Section 24-33.5-1203.5, C.R.S., the Director of the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control shall promulgate rules as necessary to carry out the duties of the Division of Fire Prevention and Control. Pursuant to Section 24-33.5-1204.5, C.R.S., the Director has the duty and power to promulgate rules as necessary to administer the fire suppression program. Pursuant to Section 11.2.2 of the rules, the Division has reviewed the fund balance of the Fire Suppression Cash Fund and determined that there is a surplus. In order to decrease the surplus, the Program fees have been modified as indicated within these emergency rule changes (Section 11). The revised schedule will significantly decrease the cost to those applying for permits under the Program. In addition, pursuant to Section 11.4, the Division is waiving fees and has established a fee holiday for those certifying as Fire Suppression Inspectors or registering as Suppression Contractors or Sprinkler Fitters. This change will go into effect for all certifications or registrations initiated or renewed in 2018. Fees already paid for 2018 renewals will be refunded. Please note that the fees for certification or registration identified within the emergency rules do NOT reflect the fee waiver.
